Kanpur: Two people were arrested in Kanpur Dehat late Friday for allegedly attempting to rape a 14-year-old girl and pressuring her to convert her religion after nikah. The arrests followed an FIR lodged by her father at Moosa Nagar police station.The man claimed that the school bus driver, Mukhtar Qureshi, lured his daughter and introduced her to Raj Raeen. Mukhtar and Raeen allegedly tried to rape the student, took objectionable photographs and began blackmailing her.According to the complaint, when the student protested, the accused threatened to kill her and her family and make the photographs viral on social media.On April 20, the accused allegedly gave the student a packet containing an intoxicating substance and told her to mix it in the food at home and feed it to her family. The complaint alleged that the same night, the student was called to a desolate spot near the house, where another youth, Monis, was present, and that the three together tried to forcibly have physical relations with her.The complainant alleged that when the girl resisted, the accused threatened to kill her. He further alleged that Raj Raeen pressured the minor to marry him through nikah and convert her religion, warning that he would make the objectionable photographs public if she refused.Police have registered a case under sections related to kidnapping, molestation, attempted rape, the Pocso Act and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act.
