COIMBATORE: The city police have arrested two men from Maharashtra on charges of forcing some minors into begging in Selvapuram here.The arrested have been identified as L Nabulsha,23, and L Sabulsha,30, of Yavatmal in Maharashtra.According to police sources, the incident came to light after District Child Help Centre received tip-off that two men were utilising some children to beg near Sivalaya Theatre.Following up on the alert, officials visited the spot to verify the claim. Investigations confirmed that the accused were making the children solicit alms under the pretext of selling pens on the street.A police officer said the two suspects and the minors were staying under the flyover on the Pollachi Road. Following the inquiry, a case was registered at the Selvapuram police station under Section 17 of the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Begging Act and Section 76(ii) of the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act.The duo were remanded in judicial custody.
