COIMBATORE: Coimbatore Police have registered a case and launched an investigation against office-bearers of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) for allegedly threatening doctors at the Valparai Government Hospital, police said on Saturday.According to police, a five-year-old boy, Deekshithan, from the Upper Paralai Estate area in Valparai, was seriously injured in a leopard attack on the evening of September 24.He was given first aid at the Valparai Government Hospital and later referred to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for further treatment.Police said that later the same night, Valparai TVK town secretary Andrews and around 20 others allegedly went to the government hospital and entered into an argument with the doctors on duty, Rajasekar and Madhupriya.The group allegedly questioned the doctors about the treatment provided to the injured child, threatened them and obstructed them from performing their duties, police said.Based on a complaint filed by Dr Rajasekar, Valparai Police registered a case under six sections, including provisions related to threatening a government servant and the Tamil Nadu Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss to Property) Act, police added.(With Agency Inputs)
