CHENNAI: A case has been registered against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay and several party functionaries for alleged violations of election rules during a recent campaign. According to police, the action was initiated following a complaint by an Election Flying Squad official, who alleged that Vijay conducted a roadshow instead of the event for which permission had been granted. Authorities said this amounted to a breach of the Model Code of Conduct.Police have registered three separate cases against Vijay, TVK candidates, and district-level office-bearers who had obtained permission for the events. The cases were filed at West Mambalam, Nungambakkam, and Vepery police stations for alleged violations of the approved permission norms.
