Chennai: A 36-year-old TV actress died by suicide at her rented apartment in Iyyappanthangal near Porur on Sunday night. She is said to have taken the extreme step following a dispute with her husband during a video call, police said. The deceased was identified as Subhashini alias Sasvibala, 36, a native of Sri Lanka, who worked as a supporting actress in a TV serial and also acted in films. She married Bipin Chandran, 38, in April 2024 and was living with him.Police said Subhashini had rented an apartment in a private residential complex to stay during shooting schedules in Chennai and that she had come to Chennai on March 3.On Sunday night, she was speaking to her husbandwhen an argument broke out between them. During the call, she hanged herself from a ceiling fan inside the apartment.Her husband, who witnessed the incident over the video call, alerted the apartment security personnel, who informed police. A police team rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Poonamallee govt hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
