Mangaluru: Tulu organisations will launch a campaign on ‘X’ on Sept 15, seeking official language status for Tulu in Karnataka and Kerala. The campaign will be held ahead of the Karnataka cabinet meeting scheduled in Mangaluru on Sept 18. Led by Jai Tulunadu, the campaign is being supported by several Tulu organisations. Organisers have appealed to the public to participate by posting on ‘X’ with the hashtag #TuluOfficialinKA_KL between 6am and midnight on Sept 15.A member of Jai Tulunadu said that a similar campaign held in 2021 had generated around 4.5 lakh posts and caused the demand to trend on the platform.“While the 2021 campaign received a strong response, we are expecting a much larger participation this time, with a target of around 20 lakh posts,” he said.Jai Tulunadu is coordinating the social media campaign, with several other Tulu organisations joining the initiative to draw attention to the demand ahead of the cabinet meeting.Members of Jai Tulunadu recently met Karnataka chief minister DK Shivakumar and submitted an appeal seeking official language status for Tulu.
