Ghaziabad: Two people were killed and three others were injured after two trucks collided with each other at the Garhi Katiya underpass near the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway in the early hours of Monday.Around 4am on Monday, police received information from passersby about the accident. A police team reached the spot and brought five injured persons to a nearby hospital. Javed (25), a resident of Tronica City in Ghaziabad, and Lokesh (38), a resident of Bulandshahr were declared dead on arrival, while the three others were referred to GTB Hospital in Delhi for further treatment.ACP (Loni) Siddharth Gautam said that Javed worked as a helper on one of the trucks. The group were returning from Delhi after unloading bricks, when a cement-laden truck coming from the opposite direction collided with their vehicle. The trucks were both moving at a high speed, and the collision was so severe it badly damaged both vehicles. “We suspect that both trucks were at a high speed, due to which they did not control their vehicles after seeing each other. However, pPolice did not receive any complaint in the matter, but police are checking the CCTV cameras of nearby areas,” the ACP said.In another incident, two brothers were killed after their bike was hit by a truck on the flyover near Sahibabad RRTS station on Friday. Aakash Kumar (27) and Varun (23) were both DJs and had been returning from an event in Delhi around midnight on Friday when their bike was struck from behind. An FIR has been registered. They were both crushed under the truck’s wheels and the truck driver fled the spot along with the vehicle.Their father Vinod Kumar subsequently filed a police complaint in the matter.ACP (Sahibabad) Shweta Yadav said that an FIR has been registered against an unknown person under section 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS at Link Road police station. Teams were formed to investigate the matter, and cops are checking the CCTV cameras of nearby spots to identify the truck, the ACP added.
