Buxar: A driver was crushed to death by a truck following a dispute over overtaking in Naya Bhojpur police station area of Buxar district late Saturday night. The incident took place at Purana Bhojpur, where the driver, identified as Pankaj Yadav, died on the spot. Police have arrested the accused driver and seized the truck involved in the incident.Narrating the incident, eyewitnesses said movement of heavy vehicles had resumed in Purana Bhojpur after the “no entry” restrictions were lifted late at night. During this time, an argument broke out between two truck drivers over who would move ahead first.The dispute soon escalated. One of the drivers parked his truck on the roadside, picked up an iron rod and started moving towards the other driver. They said as the driver holding the rod approached, the second driver allegedly did not stop his truck and instead ran over him.The driver, Pankaj, son of Ramayan Yadav, a resident of Mau district in Uttar Pradesh, died on the spot. Soon local residents informed the police about the incident.Naya Bhojpur police soon reached the spot after receiving the information. The body was sent to Buxar Sadar Hospital for the postmortem. The truck involved in the incident was seized and the accused driver arrested.Naya Bhojpur SHO Chandan Kumar said, “An investigation is being carried out and further legal action is being taken.”
