Agartala: CM Manik Saha said the state has successfully built 42 dams to tackle flood issues and outlined plans for implementing 193 flood control projects aimed at mitigating river erosion across Tripura.He highlighted that all 10 major rivers in Tripura that flow into Bangladesh are facing siltation problems caused by soil erosion from deforestation in the hilly regions over recent years. The ongoing issue has resulted in the formation of low-lying areas and the occurrence of flash floods in urban locations during heavy rainfall.Saha stressed the necessity of comprehensive reforms alongside infrastructure development, underscoring the Tripura govt’s dedication to leveraging advanced technologies for developmental efforts.He pointed to the inauguration of the State Data Centre as a pivotal development, aimed at bolstering irrigation systems and enhancing flood management strategies.Speaking during the launch of the State Data Centre, he recognised it as a landmark achievement, emphasising its crucial role in providing accurate data to support flood management efforts. He also linked these efforts to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of integrating knowledge and modern technology into governance.Saha announced plans for introducing a three-tier e-office system to streamline administrative procedures and enhance water resource management. Referring to the National Hydrology Project, launched under a flagship programme in 2016-17, he shed light on investments made towards establishing and expanding the State Data Centre.
