Agartala: Police have launched an investigation after the father of a minor student alleged that a teacher assaulted his son at a madrasa in Tripura’s Unakoti district. The incident reportedly occurred on Sept 12 at Phulbarikandi Hafizia Madrassa in Barkhala village, under the Gournagar block of Kailashahar. The boy’s father, Manaf Ali, alleged that the teacher physically punished his son after he struggled to answer a question in class. The boy reportedly sustained injuries to his hands and legs.Ali claimed that this was not an isolated incident and that his son had been subjected to similar punishment at the madrassa in the past. After attempts to resolve the matter through discussions with madrassa officials failed, Ali submitted a written complaint to Kailashahar police station on Sept 13. In the complaint, he said physical assault was not an acceptable form of discipline and sought a fair investigation and action against anyone found responsible.Separately, unverified reports claimed that photographs and social media posts related to the alleged incident had been removed under pressure. The source of the alleged pressure was not specified.Attempts to contact the madrasa authorities and the teacher, referred to locally as “Chhoto Huzur”, for comment were unsuccessful.
