Hisar: In a crackdown on corruption, the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday caught a treasury clerk red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 3,000 in the Mini Secretariat complex at Fatehabad.The arrested accused has been identified as Hiralal. According to ACB officials, Sunil Bishnoi, a veterinary livestock development assistant (VLDA) posted at the animal hospital near Jawahar Chowk, purchased medicines worth about Rs 49,000. As per procedure, the bills were sent to the treasury department for clearance.The accused, however, kept delaying the processing of the bills and when Bishnoi approached him, the clerk reportedly demanded Rs 3,000 as a bribe to approve the bills.Troubled by the demand, Bishnoi lodged a complaint with the ACB, following which the bureau verified the allegations and set up a trap.On Wednesday, the complainant was sent to the treasury office with the marked currency notes and as soon as the clerk accepted the money, the ACB team apprehended him.A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation is underway, said the officials.MSID:: 129463581 413 |
