Ahmedabad: The official social media account of the city traffic police on X was temporarily suspended, leaving officials uncertain about the exact reason behind the action. The account, operating under the handle @PoliceAhmedabad, was used by the traffic police to share updates related to traffic diversions, road closures and enforcement drives across the city. It also served as a platform where citizens could post complaints or alert authorities about congestion and traffic violations.Officials said the account was recently suspended by the platform, which has a set of guidelines governing the use of accounts. Sources indicated that the suspension may be linked to a post related to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final on March 8. The post reportedly attracted a large number of reposts and comments. According to sources, the post also triggered an exchange of comments between the Ahmedabad traffic police account and the official account of Delhi police over the final match. The unusually high engagement is believed to have drawn the platform’s attention, after which the account was temporarily suspended for a possible policy violation. The suspension meant that users were unable to interact with the account or post complaints through it. When contacted, joint commissioner of police, traffic, A G Chauhan, said he was not immediately aware of the issue and suggested contacting officials handling the department’s social media operations.Attempts to reach Chirag Patel, DCP (admin) traffic, for comment were unsuccessful.
