Prayagraj: In view of begining of Kanwar yatra on the occasion of Shrawan month from Thursday (July 30), the district traffic police authorities on Wednesday launched traffic diversion plan for heavy buses / commercial vehicles which will be effective till August 28.Vehicles are completely restricted on the left lane on GT Jawahar Alopibagh Chungi to the Varanasi route up to the Bhiti Prayagraj border from Thursday (July 30) to August 28 and traffic will use the right lane on Shastri bridge.The route diversion for August 3 (first Somvar of Shrawan month) will start from 01 August at 22:00 hours and remain in effect until August 4(Tuesday) at 22:00 hours.A senior traffic police officer said that heavy vehicles coming from Kanpur towards Varanasi are being diverted via Ramadevi- Jajmau Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Marg – Badarka Achalganj – Bighapur Raebareli – Pratapgarh – Jaunpur and reaching Varanasi. The return route will be the same.Similarly, vehicles coming from Kaushambi will exit the Prayagraj Bypass at Soraon cut and moving via Bhupia Mau (Pratapgarh) – Mungra Badshahpur – Machhali Shahar to Varanasi. The return route will be the same.Moreover, heavy or commercial vehicles coming from Lucknow towards Varanasi will travel via Raebareli – Salon – Pratapgarh – Jaunpur to Varanasi. The return route will be the same.Besides, vehicles coming from Pratapgarh towards Varanasi will travel via Pratapgarh – Machhali Shahar – Jaunpur to Varanasi. The return route will be the same.Cops informed that vehicles coming from Rewa towards Varanasi will travel via Mangawan – Hanumana – Mirzapur to Varanasi and vehicles going from Rewa to Lucknow or Kanpur will travel via Chitrakoot – Banda – Chaudagara – Fatehpur to reach their destinations. The return route will be the same.Meanwhile, vehicles coming from Chitrakoot will pass via Rajapur – Kaushambi – Kokhraj to reach their destinations.Importantly, loading or unloading vehicles in the city will enter through Kokhraj bypass via Puramufti police station – Dhoomanganj route. Besides, roadways buses coming from Varanasi will also enter Prayagraj via Handia – Sahso – Phaphamau. (Use of Shastri Bridge will be completely prohibited).Similarly, roadways buses coming from Jaunpur will enter Prayagraj via Phoolpur – Sahso – Phaphamau. (Use of Shastri Bridge will be completely prohibited).During the above-mentioned period, there will be a no-entry for all heavy commercial vehicles (except essential services). All types of vehicle passes stand canceled during this period.
