Kanpur: The body of a 25-year-old trader from Bangarmau in Unnao, who jumped into Ganga five days ago, was recovered near gate number 21 of Ganga Barrage in Kanpur on Wednesday, police said.The body was recovered about 62 km from Bangarmau. Family members identified the trader, Israr Mohammad, by his clothes and taweez, Nawabganj Inspector Rajkesar said. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.Israr was the youngest of four sons of Mohammad Rais, a grocery store owner and resident of Bhikharipur Patasia village in Bangarmau.According to Israr’s brothers, he reached Nanamau Ghat on a motorcycle around 2 pm on Sept 19 and parked the motorcycle before jumping into Ganga from the bridge.Some passers-by alerted police. The police arrived at the spot and informed his family using details linked to the motorcycle’s registration number.Divers and water police launched a search for him.
