Berhampur: As many as 11 fire services personnel took around 10 to 15 minutes to removed an aluminum pot, in which a two-year-old boy’s head got stuck while playing at his home in Ranibara, Ganjam district, late on Thursday evening.Since Trilochan Pradhan’s family was unable to remove it, he was first taken to the nearby hospital at Rambha. As the medical facility was closed late at night, the family took him to the fire station at Rambha, following the suggestions of a Rambha hospital staffer. Bidyadhar Pradhan, Trilochan’s father, said he was playing with his grandmother with the pot at their home in Ranibara when it got stuck. “We tried to remove it, but he was crying continuously, so we took him to the hospital. We were planning to take him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, but a Rambha facility staffer helped us take him to the fire station,” he said.Firefighter Rajendra Narayan Das said they cut the aluminum pot carefully without causing any injuries to the child. “We used bolt cutters and spader to expand the pot of 15cm diameter,” said Das, adding all 11 fire personnel at the station pitched in. As Trilochan was crying continuously, they provided him ORS through a pipe.His parents thanked the team for their timely intervention. “The timely response and careful efforts of the Rambha Fire Station personnel helped rescue the child,” said Dhananjaya Mallick, fire officer at Chhatrapur.
