Vadodara: Prompt response by the Sayajigunj police in Vadodara averted a potential tragedy after a two-and-a-half-year-old boy was accidentally locked inside a car in the city’s Alkapuri area on Sunday.The child was rescued within minutes after police personnel broke open the car window upon reaching the spot. According to the police, the boy’s father, a resident of Ahmedabad, had briefly stepped away from the vehicle when it got auto-locked with the key still inside.“While the child remained inside the car, his father moved a short distance away. The vehicle suddenly auto-locked, leaving him helpless and panicked,” said Dipti Gamara, police inspector at Sayajigunj police station.Realising the urgency of the situation, the man immediately alerted the police and fire brigade. A police team arrived at the location and, assessing the risk, smashed the car window using a hammer to gain access.The child was rescued safely and was found to be in stable condition, officials said.The boy’s father later expressed gratitude to the police and fire personnel for their quick and decisive action, which ensured the child’s safety.
