KALLALURICHI: A 19-year-old woman murdered her seven-month-old baby girl by throwing her into a well and attempted to die suicide by jumping into the same well in a village in Kallakurichi district. Police said S Chandralekha of Kottamedu village and M Sellapandian, 26, of Manaparai in Trichy district got married a few years ago after a love affair while they were working as daily wage workers in Chennai. Chandralekha came to her grandmother’s house in Kottamedu village with her baby on Saturday. She argued with her husband over petty issues over the mobile phone. In a fit of rage, she went a farmland with her baby. She threw the baby into the well and jumped into the well. Passersby rescued the woman and the baby. However, the baby died while the woman survived. Tirukoilur police booked a case against the woman and arrested her.
