Chandigarh: Chandigarh Congress Saturday took out a Tiranga March at Sector 17 Plaza in support of students protesting across the country. Congress leaders, councillors, Youth Congress and NSUI workers, along with students, participated in the march carrying the national flag.The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee also organised a shabeel and distributed fruits and biscuits among students and their parents. Congress workers distributed sweets, describing Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as a victory of the student movement.Addressing the gathering, Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee president HS Lucky said the resignation reflected the strength of students protesting against paper leaks, alleged irregularities in examinations and issues affecting their future.

He said Congress would continue to raise issues of transparent recruitment, fair examinations and accountability in the education system.BOXAAP holds candle march in support of studentsThe Chandigarh unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organised a candle march in Sector 47 on Saturday in support of students and to protest against the lathi-charge on demonstrators at Jantar Mantar.Led by municipal councillor Jasbir Singh Laddi, the march saw party workers light candles and raise slogans in support of students’ rights and democracy. Laddi said issues concerning the future of students should be addressed through dialogue and accountability rather than force.
