Buxar: To ensure peace and maintain law and order during Muharram processions, Buxar DM Sahila and SP Shubham Arya conducted a joint flag march through sensitive areas of the town on Thursday. The march started from Jyoti Chowk and passed through Khalasi Mohalla, Yamuna Chowk, Thatheri Bazaar and Badi Masjid before concluding at Model police station.The district administration has put in place elaborate security arrangements for the festival. A total of 128 static magistrates and police personnel, 31 patrolling teams, two zonal magistrates and two Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been deployed. Officials said magistrates and police personnel will accompany 106 Tazia processions. A district-level control room has also been set up for monitoring.According to officials, 107 Tazia processions will be taken out across the district, including 48 in Buxar subdivision and 59 in Dumraon subdivision. The process of bringing soil for Tazias began on June 25. Shahadat Ki Raat will be observed on June 26, while the Pahlam ceremony is scheduled for June 27.The DM directed officials to ensure that Tazias adhere to prescribed height limits and that all processions obtain licences from respective subdivisional officers. The use of DJs has been banned, while provocative sloganeering, inflammatory songs and display of weapons have also been prohibited. Organisers have been asked to submit names, addresses and Aadhaar details of 10–25 responsible persons and provide a written undertaking to maintain peace. Videography of all processions has been made mandatory.Officials have been instructed to physically verify sensitive locations, graveyards and procession routes. Departments concerned have been directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, sanitation, road repairs, fire safety arrangements, healthcare and ambulance services.Cyber police stations and Cyber Senani WhatsApp groups have also been activated to monitor rumours and misleading content on social media. The DM urged all officials to work in coordination to ensure peaceful and harmonious observance of Muharram across the district.
