Lucknow: The excitement of Raksha Bandhan turned into unimaginable grief for a family in Sant Kabir Nagar after their 18-year-old only son, Adarsh Mishra alias Tushar, died during treatment in Lucknow on Thursday. His three sisters had been waiting to celebrate the festival with their only brother. Instead, they were left mourning his sudden death.Adarsh, a second-year BTech student at Goel Institute of Technology and Management, was found critically ill at his rented accommodation in the BBD area on Tuesday after consuming poison. His friends rushed him to a hospital, but despite treatment, he died on Thursday.The tragedy came just days after Adarsh had been home with his family. According to his uncle Pradeep Mishra, he had returned home on Saturday to attend a religious ceremony. His father, Pramod Mishra, a contractual lineman with the electricity department, dropped him back to Lucknow by bus on Sunday.On Tuesday morning, Adarsh spoke to his parents on the phone. It was their last conversation. Later, his friends informed the family that his condition had deteriorated and he had been hospitalised. The family rushed to Lucknow, only to find their son dead.Police found a purported suicide note from his room that read: “Mom, Dad, sorry. I do not want to trouble you. Please forgive me.” His mobile phone and laptop have been seized for examination.Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that Adarsh had been disturbed following a dispute over an issue at home. BBD inspector Ram Singh said the circumstances surrounding his death were being investigated and the post-mortem examination report was awaited.For his three sisters, the rakhi they had hoped to tie on their brother’s wrist will now remain a painful reminder of the brother they lost. A festival meant to celebrate their lifelong bond has instead left the family facing an irreplaceable absence.
