Patna: Three members of a family were killed when their vehicle was hit by a speeding truck in Purnia district late Friday evening. The accident occurred near Raghunath Canal under the Sarsi police station area as they were returning from a “tilak” ceremony.The victims were identified as Jago Rishi (45), his son Kishan Kumar (18), residents of Kumari village in Dhamdaha, and Kanchan Devi (40), wife of Moti Rishi. The injured included e-rickshaw driver Gutar Singh, Jagan Rishi and another person.Police from Sarsi and Dhamdaha police stations reached the spot and sent the bodies to govt Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Purnia for post-mortem. Minister Leshi Singh visited GMCH, consoled the family and assured assistance.Moti Rishi said, “Jago Rishi’s daughter’s wedding is on February 24. For this, we went to Rahika village in Champanagar on Friday evening to attend the Tilak ceremony. Everyone was returning home from there in an e-rickshaw near Raghunathpur Canal when an out-of-control truck rammed into the vehicle and fled after the accident.”On hearing screams, locals gathered and informed police. The injured were admitted to hospital.Sarsi police station SHO Raju Kumar said, “Police seized the e-rickshaw. The absconding driver is being searched for. The injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital.”
