Krishnagiri: Three people, including a father and son riding on a two-wheeler, were killed and seven others injured in a collision involving multiple vehicles at Kurubarapalli near Hosur in the Krishnagiri district on Sunday.The accident occurred when a truck transporting flour from Hosur to Krishnagiri lost control and collided with two cars on the Krishnagiri-Bengaluru national highway at Kurubarapalli around 4pm. The collision triggered pileups involving three more trucks, a goods carrier vehicle, a government bus, and a two-wheeler.District collector C. Dinesh Kumar, who visited the accident spot with superintendent of police P Thangadurai, said, “Anwar, 32, and his son Asim, 7, from Kurubarapalli, and the truck driver, Bargathullah, 65, from Krishnagiri, died on the spot in the accident.”The injured were identified as Usha Agarwal, 50, her husband Vasanth Agarwal, 56, Sumaiya, 5, Asma Parveen,28, Mani, 65, Jayachitra, 41, and Karthik, 39, who were travelling in other vehicles.The injured were taken to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment.The collector and the SP visited the injured people at the hospital.Kurubarapalli police utilized a crane to remove the vehicles involved in the accident and restore traffic flow.Traffic on the national highway was disrupted for two hours due to the accident. Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the tyres of the truck went flat, causing driver Bargathullah to lose control and collide with other vehicles.A case has been filed, and further investigations are underway.
