A land dispute between relatives escalated into a violent shooting in Patna’s Byapur village, injuring three people, two critically. The incident occurred at the residence of state agriculture minister Ram Kripal Yadav’s brother-in-law. Police have arrested one suspect and are actively searching for others involved in the gunfire and assault. An FIR has been filed.

Patna: Three people were injured, two of them seriously, in a shooting incident late Friday night in Byapur village under Maner police station area in Patna district. The incident occurred at the house of the brother-in-law of state agriculture minister Ram Kripal Yadav.An old land dispute between two relatives suddenly turned violent, leading to heavy gunfire and physical assault. The injured have been identified as Pappu, son of Rajendra Singh; Manish alias Guddu, son of late Bhupendra Singh; and Nitish alias Bablu. Manish and Nitish, have been admitted to AIIMS-Patna, where their condition is critical. Pappu, after treatment at a private nursing home in Danapur, was discharged.According to the family of the injured, around two rounds of firing took place. They accused Rakesh Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Deepak and Prince, sons of late Satendra, and others of opening fire and attacking them with sticks and stones.Maner SHO Rajneesh said as soon as information about the clash was received, a police team reached the spot. “However, all the accused fled the place by then. Police have launched raids to arrest the accused. The main accused, Rakesh, was arrested from Byapur on Saturday evening,” he said.“Prince fired two shots in the air. He is also absconding. Raids are underway to nab all the accused. Both the families had some dispute over some personal issues. On the complaint of the injured, police lodged an FIR against five named and same number of unidentified persons in the case,” the SHO told this reporter on Saturday.
