Patna’s District Magistrate has ordered a significant upgrade for Patliputra Bus Terminal, focusing on passenger amenities and traffic flow. Key directives include clearing encroachments, removing abandoned vehicles, and acquiring more land for infrastructure. A multi-departmental team will tackle debris dumping, while unauthorized operators face penalties. Enhanced security and improved facilities are top priorities.

Patna: District magistrate, Thiyagarajan S M, during an executive committee meeting held here on Saturday, directed officials to improve passenger facilities and clear traffic bottlenecks at the Patliputra Bus Terminal. He ordered removal of all encroachments between the terminal and Zero Mile and instructed the district transport officer to remove 28 abandoned vehicles from the bus terminal premises within a week.The DM formed a multi-departmental team, led by SP (traffic), to inspect nearby roads and coordinate with Patna Metro, NHAI and road construction department officials to prevent dumping of construction debris. The DM directed the district land acquisition officer to complete acquisition of additional five acres of land for development of new infrastructure.The secretary of the terminal committee was tasked with inviting banks and vendors to install ATMs, hotels, and restaurants on the campus. Additionally, sufficient display boards and inquiry counters must be maintained, said the DM. A passenger fare list must be displayed at prominent points, he said.A task force, led by the sub-divisional officer, has been asked to penalise unauthorised bus operators and those indulging in illegal parking at Masaurhi Mor and Zero Mile. A management sub-committee will meet twice every month to review passengers’ facilities and surveillance system.The DM said he would reach out to Buidco and NHAI to ensure pending construction and drainage projects near Bairiya and Pahadi are completed soon. He also directed the outsourcing agency and Patna Municipal Corporation to monitor cleaning, fogging, and waste disposal.Additional instructions were given to the secretary to enhance security through CCTV and ensure the task force keeps a check on unwanted elements in the vicinity.
