Madhepura: Three govt school teachers have been issued show-cause notices for allegedly participating in a Congress-sponsored programme held at Sant Abadh Sports Ground here on Aug 22. District education officer Sanjay Kumar issued the notices on Saturday, seeking their replies within 24 hours.The education department had earlier deputed 16 physical education teachers and instructors for a marathon and sports events under the programme, following a request from Madhepura district Congress committee president Santosh Kumar Saurav.The deputation order reportedly drew objections from local functionaries of the ruling alliance, who raised the matter with the district magistrate. The education department subsequently cancelled the order on Aug 22, stating that govt teachers should not be deputed for a political party-sponsored programme.Despite the cancellation, Sonay Anup Higher Secondary School teacher Dilip Kumar, Primary School Jittapur teacher and instructor Balkrishna Kumar, and Middle School Sakarpura teacher Prem Kumar allegedly participated in the event.In charge DEO Ravi Shastri said the deputation order had been issued inadvertently and was cancelled after the matter came to the department’s notice.dnsah5@gmail.com
