Kanpur: Three girls were buried under debris after the rear walls of two adjacent houses collapsed due to continuous rain in Etawah district on Thursday. The girls were rescued by villagers, admitted to the Mahewa Community Health Centre (CHC) with injuries.The incident took place in Madaiya Malhan village, situated on the banks of the Yamuna river under the Bakewar police station area. Rain had continued since Thursday dawn when the rear-room walls of the houses of Omkar and Sant Kumar Nishad collapsed. Large cracks also appeared in both houses, which are adjacent to each other.Hearing the sound of the walls collapsing, nearby residents rushed to the spot and pulled the girls out from under the debris. The injured girls were identified as Jayanti (13) and Kalpana (8), daughters of Omkar, and Rohiti (17), daughter of Sant Kumar.On receiving information, a fire brigade vehicle from Chakarnagar reached the spot and removed the debris, clearing the road. Chakarnagar Fire Service Sub-Inspector Subhash Arya also reached the spot with his team. By then, villagers had already rescued the girls trapped under the debris.
