T’puram: Three men were arrested and remanded in connection with the death of a 47-year-old motorcyclist after a car allegedly travelling at high speed hit his vehicle near Chennanpara on Palode-Ponmudi road on Sunday evening.The arrested are Ranjith Raj, 30, Pradeep, 39, and Nandakumar, 29. The police said Ranjith was driving the car when the accident occurred.Shaiju, a resident of Palode, was returning towards Vithura with his children after visiting a temple when the car, which was coming from the Ponmudi side, collided with their motorcycle.Shaiju sustained serious head injuries in the impact. He was taken to Nedumangad district hospital but died while undergoing treatment. His children, Vasudev and Vasuki, sustained injuries to their hands and legs and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital.The police said the car was allegedly being driven at high speed and had entered the wrong side of the road. The accused reportedly told police that they lost control of the car due to its speed, leading to the collision.
