Shashi Tharoor backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message to U.S. President Donald Trump on protecting civilian sailors operating on commercial vessels, saying they should never become targets in conflict. He also described the emerging US-Iran understanding as a positive start but cautioned that its success would depend on implementation. Speaking ahead of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs’ visit to Jammu, Srinagar, Leh and Kargil, Tharoor said the panel has been briefed on India-Pakistan and India-China issues.
