Hyderabad: The RTC workers’ unions in Telangana have urged the state govt to take clear decisions on their pending issues at the Cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday. They say delays in resolving these problems are increasing pressure on employees and affecting their morale.In a representation to chief minister A Revanth Reddy, union leader Raji Reddy said there have been no recognised labour unions in RTC for the past few years. This, they claim, has made it difficult to raise concerns and has increased workload and stress. They have asked the govt to restore unions immediately.Workers have also called for the long-pending merger of RTC with the state govt to be completed. Though approvals were given earlier, the implementation date has not yet been announced, Raji added.Another major issue is salary revision. The 2021 pay scale remains pending, while a new revision is already due from 2025. Employees have urged the govt to implement the 2021 revision without further delay.They have also requested the govt to increase the RTC budget allocation for 2026–27 to meet operational needs.On electric buses, workers expressed concern that handing over operations to private players may affect the jobs of drivers and technical staff. They want the govt to ensure that RTC itself operates these buses, with necessary support.Pending retirement benefits and dues are also a concern. Workers have asked for the immediate payment of these amounts.Staff shortage is another major issue. Around 17,000 posts have been reduced over time, but services continue, increasing the workload on existing staff. Workers said fresh recruitment is necessary to reduce double duty and allow proper leave.They urged the govt to take decisions at the Cabinet meeting to resolve these issues and reduce growing dissatisfaction among RTC employees.
