Pune: A tempo driver was killed and his cleaner suffered serious injuries after their vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer. The accident occurred around 2.30am on Sunday at Khandoba Mala — between Kesnand and Lonikand. The deceased tempo driver has been identified by Lonikand police as Ishwar Ugale (34) from Rahata in Ahilyanagar district. The injured cleaner is Kishore Nehe (22) from Rahuri in Ahilyanagar.Assistant inspector Nilesh Ghorpade on Monday said that the tractor-trailer, laden with iron coils from Bellary in Karnataka, was on its way to deliver goods at a private firm in Rajgurunagar in Khed taluka. “Preliminary investigations suggest that Ugale lost control of the tempo, causing it to crash into the rear of the tractor-trailer,” Ghorpade said.“Ugale died from the injuries at the Sassoon General Hospital. Nehe is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Both vehicles were severely damaged in the incident,” the officer added.Police have registered a case against the tempo driver for causing his own death due to negligence.
