Jaipur: Twenty-three pilgrims were injured, four of them critically, when a private bus taking them to the Maujmabad pilgrimage site crashed into a stationary trailer on the Jaipur-Kota National Highway (NH-52) in Tonk district Sunday.Police said the passengers, all from Kota and nearby areas and mostly from the same extended family, were on a pilgrimage when the accident occurred around 10.30am near Naya Gaon in the Mehndwas area, about 10km from the temple.The bus, carrying around 20-25 passengers, rammed into the rear of a trailer parked on the roadside, injuring 11 women and 12 men. Locals and police rushed to the spot and moved the injured to Saadat Hospital in ambulances and private vehicles.Four seriously injured people, including the bus conductor, were referred to Jaipur for specialised treatment.Police said both the bus driver and the trailer driver fled after the crash. A case has been registered and efforts are on to trace them.
