Hyderabad: Telangana’s election authorities will hold Grama Sabhas and Ward Sabhas across the state on Aug 27 as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) directed to read out the names of all electors included in the draft roll and identify eligible citizens who have been left out.The directions were issued by chief electoral officer C Sudharsan Reddy on Aug 21. The meetings will be held at Grama Panchayat buildings in rural areas and at polling stations in urban areas. BLOs and members of Chunav Pathshala will participate, while BLOs have been asked to give wide publicity to the exercise.Names in draft roll to be read aloudUnder the seven-point agenda, BLOs have been instructed to read aloud the names of electors appearing in the draft electoral roll. The Sabhas will also identify Indian citizens whose names have been omitted.Citizens attaining 18 years of age as on Oct 1, 2026, the qualifying date, will be asked to submit Form-6 along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents for enrolment.Electors finding errors or discrepancies in the draft roll can submit Form-8 along with the required declaration and documents.Form-7 objections, documents to be discussedThe meetings will also identify persons who may have been wrongly included in the draft roll. Any objection through Form-7 must be filed by an elector registered in the same constituency, along with a declaration.Officials will explain the documents prescribed by the Election Commission of India for claims, objections and verification, besides discussing other issues connected with the SIR.The CEO directed that proceedings be properly documented and photographs preserved in the BLO register. The memo was sent to the GHMC commissioner and Hyderabad DEO, all district collectors and DEOs, and all Electoral Registration Officers through their respective DEOs.
