Hyderabad: Siddipet police are conducting a survey along the 100-kilometre stretch of highway between Siddipet and Karimnagar to facilitate the installation of CCTV cameras. This initiative is part of an effort to enhance surveillance coverage across the district. “At present, CCTV coverage on this 100-km stretch is inadequate. To address this, the police, with support from municipal authorities and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, plan to install additional cameras. Alongside this, improvements in lighting and fibre connectivity are essential to ensure the effectiveness of the project,” said Siddipet commissioner of police, Rashmi Perumal. She added that the highway has several accident-prone black spots with frequent road mishaps. She further stated that local police have recently installed 400 cameras across villages, with plans to expand coverage to key entry and exit roads. “To encourage community participation, we conducted meetings with villagers. Many elders have come forward to support the initiative, and around 150 more cameras will be installed shortly. Our goal is to bring all villages in Siddipet under CCTV surveillance within the next six months. A Command Control Centre (CCC) is also being developed to integrate and monitor all camera feeds,” she said.
