Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy will break ground and lay the foundation stone for global tech giant Amazon‘s hyperscale data centre on Wednesday at Bharat Future City, where the company has been allotted 202 acres, for one of the largest data centres of its kind in the country.The proposed Bharat Future City hyperscale data centre will put Amazon’s total investment in data centre infrastructure in Telangana at Rs60,000 crore. This includes a hyperscale data centre at Chandanvelly, where it has been allotted 98 acres.The new data centre infrastructure will support the growing demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence services, marking a major step in Telangana’s plan to position Hyderabad as India’s leading digital and cloud computing hub.Incentives from stateThe latest project by Amazon follows discussions held by the CM with the company’’s representatives at the World Economic Forum in Davos in Jan 2025, where the company gave an in-principle commitment to invest Rs60,000 crore in Telangana.A framework agreement for the investment was later signed during the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025 in Dec.The state govt has extended incentives and concessions worth Rs 125 crore to Amazon for the project that is expected to boost economic activity in the peri-urban region and create an ecosystem supporting technology companies, startups, service providers and allied industries.Boost for AI infraWhile construction in the first phase is expected to be completed within 24 months, the remaining phases will be developed over the next 10 years, with Amazon’s total planned investment in Telangana projected to reach Rs60,000 crore over the decade.The proposed facilities will strengthen digital infrastructure for artificial intelligence, digital banking, e-commerce, healthcare, govt digital services and industrial applications. Amazon Web Services’ expansion is also expected to enhance Hyderabad’s capacity to host large-scale cloud platforms and data-driven businesses.Telangana govt officials said the availability of land, water, power, road connectivity, policy support and faster administrative approvals in Telangana have helped attract global companies seeking large technology infrastructure projects.
