Patna: With the RJD gearing up to celebrate its 30th foundation day across Bihar on July 5, its working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Monday criticised the state govt over a range of issues, while JD(U) rejected the allegations and defended the administration’s functioning.Addressing reporters, Tejashwi alleged the BJP-led state govt had failed to address key public concerns, including investment, price rise, farmers’ compensation, scholarships and law and order.Tejashwi reiterated that the state treasury was under strain and claimed the govt was relying on borrowings from financial institutions. He also alleged that people were facing the impact of inflation, farmers were not receiving adequate compensation for acquired land, students were not getting scholarships and law and order remained a concern.Referring to the Rishu Shri case, Tejashwi alleged that the “big fish have been spared” and said no action had been taken against any minister or bureaucrat in the past 20 years. He also criticised former CM Nitish Kumar, alleging that retired officers wielded significant influence in governance.Responding to the allegations, JD(U) chief spokesman and MLC Neeraj Kumar said Bihar had a “double-engine govt” and enjoyed good coordination with the Centre. He said land transfers were carried out for public projects requiring central assistance. On Tejashwi’s criticism of the state’s finances, Neeraj said borrowings remained within the limits prescribed under the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act. He also claimed Bihar’s debt position was better than that of several other states.Ahead of the July 5 celebrations, the RJD will organise a function at Karpoori auditorium on July 1. Party chief Lalu Prasad, state president Mangani Lal Mandal and senior party functionaries are expected to attend.
