Patna: Former CM Rabri Devi has sought time till July 5 to vacate her official residence at 10, Circular Road. As Monday was the deadline set by the building construction department, belongings of the RJD functionary and her family, including her husband Lalu Prasad, were shifted to the 1, Polo Road bungalow allotted to her son and leader of the opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. Rabri has been allotted the 39, Hardinge Road bungalow, where renovation work is still under way.Coincidentally, July 5 is the RJD’s foundation day.Seeking an extension, Rabri wrote to the building construction department, stating that it had not provided the charge register. RJD functionary Bhola Yadav said it would not be possible to vacate the residence until the charge register was made available. The register contains a list of all the items handed over to Rabri when she moved into the bungalow in 2006.The 10, Circular Road bungalow has already been allotted to minister Nand Kishore Ram. The department had fixed Monday as the final deadline after issuing four notices to Rabri. In its final notice issued on June 22, the department directed her to vacate the residence within seven days. It also said that if the bungalow was not vacated by June 29, action would be initiated under the Bihar Government Premises Act.When asked about Rabri vacating the bungalow, senior RJD functionary Abdul Bari Siddiqui, who accompanied Lalu for about an hour, told reporters, “Just wait… let’s see what happens next.” However, he clarified they would vacate the 10, Circular Road residence within the timeframe stipulated by the govt.Asked whether Lalu would move to the 39, Hardinge Road bungalow or shift to his own house in Kautilya Nagar, Siddiqui did not confirm either possibility. He only said, “Wait, everything will become clear in due course.”Sources said the Lalu family was waiting for construction work on its new house in Kautilya Nagar to be completed.Earlier on Monday, belongings of the Lalu family were seen being loaded onto a truck and taken away.
