Patna: Hours after CM Samrat Choudhary slammed the opposition for not supporting the women’s reservation bill in Lok Sabha, Leader of opposition in assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Sunday hit back, saying the CM has no understanding of the bill. He said the opposition reacted since the BJP was attempting to push delimitation under the guise of the women’s reservation bill.Talking to reporters here, Tejashwi wondered over the way this bill was not brought into force although it was passed three years back. “We are not opposed to the women’s reservation bill, which was unanimously passed three years back. In fact, they were trying to push the delimitation and take political benefit of it,” Tejashwi said. He alleged that the govt aimed to “arbitrarily” divide constituencies through delimitation in a way that weakens “strongholds of opposition”.Describing opposition as the strong supporter of women’s reservation, Tejashwi said, “In fact, we want 50% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. We also want quotas within the quota for women belonging to backward classes. Why should only women from urban areas go to Parliament? Those residing in villages should also get a chance.”Stating that the CM had no major role to play, Tejashwi said he would act only at the instructions of “Gujarati brothers”. He took a dig at the claims by Nishant Kumar, son of former CM Nitish Kumar, that he won’t make any compromise with “three Cs” — crime, corruption and communalism. “Let him say so, Nitish ji already compromised with three ‘Cs’,” he alleged, adding there is a lot of difference between words and actions.
