DHARMAPURI: A 19-year-old youth and his 16-year-old girlfriend died by suicide on a railway track near Morappur in Dharmapuri district in the early hours of Thursday. The deceased have been identified as Kansiram Rana and his girlfriend Amudha Priya. Both were residents of Ettipatti village near Harur in Dharmapuri district.Passersby noticed the severed bodies on the track and alerted the railway police. The loco pilot of a train had already passed on the information that the train had run over a young man and a girl lying on the track.Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo had travelled to the spot on a two-wheeler and lay on the track before being run over by the train. “A two-wheeler parked near the track proved crucial. We were able to trace the identity of the deceased using the vehicle’s registration number,” said a railway police officer. The railway police registered a case.
