COIMBATORE: The Kavundampalayam police in the city have arrested a guest worker on charges of committing an unnatural act on a goat and assaulting and threatening the animal’s owner when confronted.The arrested man has been identified as P Gobindo Das, 35, of Pethajapara near Sandeshkhali in West Bengal. He was residing at Kavundampalayam and engaged in construction work. Sathish Kumar, 54, of Mariyamman Temple Street in Kavundampalayam keeps around 10 goats in a shed situated on the lower portion of his house. Around 6pm on Tuesday, Sathish Kumar heard unusual noises coming from the thorny bushes located below his residence. Upon inspecting the area, he found the man engaging in a sexual act with one of his goats.When Sathish Kumar attempted to intervene and stop the act, the man hurled verbal abuses at him using filthy language. The situation escalated when the man threw stones at Sathish Kumar and threatened him with dire consequences before fleeing the spot.Based on Sathish Kumar’s complaint, the Kavundampalayam police registered a case against Gobindo under 351(3), 296(b) of BNS and 11(1)(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. He was arrested on Wednesday and remanded in judicial custody.
