Kanpur: A 17-year-old girl was feared drowned while taking a dip in the Ganga at Gudara Ghat in Bithoor on Thursday. Two other young women who were swept into deep water were rescued by locals.According to police, the missing girl, identified as Muskan, was a resident of Faizabad. She had come to Bithoor for a Ganga bath along with her cousin, Anushka Sharma, and two friends, Riya (17) and Shivli (18).While taking a dip at Gudara Ghat, Muskan allegedly ventured into deep water and began to drown. Her companions raised an alarm and tried to rescue her. During the rescue attempt, Anushka and Riya were also swept into deep water and began drowning.Hearing their cries for help, local youths standing nearby jumped into the river and rescued the two. After receiving information, Bithoor town in-charge sub-inspector Abhishek Bhadauria reached the spot along with a police team.Police deployed local divers and launched a search operation to trace the missing teenager.However, Muskan remained untraced till the filing of this report, and the search operation was underway.
