Kanpur: Five robbers allegedly entered a house on Pama Road in the Rania police station area on Wednesday night, severely assaulted four family members, held them hostage, and decamped with Rs 3.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 9 lakh.The victim, Rajan Kumar, in his complaint, said he was sleeping on the terrace with his wife Premlata, son Krishna and nephew Himanshu when the miscreants entered the house and assaulted them.He alleged that the robbers took them to the courtyard, where they tied him, his son and nephew to a cot with a rope. They then forced Premlata to open the almirah and stole Rs 3.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 9 lakh before fleeing.After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and launched an investigation.Station in-charge Dinesh Kumar Gautam said evidence had been collected from the scene and further investigation was underway.
