Times News NetworkKanpur: Reviewing development and the problems of zone-5 at a meeting held here on Wednesday, mayor Pramila Pandey directed the officials that in view of the holy month of Shrawan beginning from Thursday, they should ensure that encroachments over drains are removed and all footpaths near Shiv temples in the city are cleared for convenience of the devotees.The mayor directed the officulas to impose fines against people found littering the area around Shiva temples and make arrangements of street lights on all roads leading towards Shiva temples. There are four prominent Shiva temples in the and they are Anandeshwar Temple (Parmat), Vankhandeshwar Temple (P Road), Jageshwar Temple (Nawabganj) and Siddhanath temple (Jajmau), she said.During the review meeting, the corporators of zone-5 too raised the problems of street lighting, poor sanitation and drainage, waterlogging, encroachments on roads and shortage of sanitation workers.Corporator of ward no. 93 Naveen Pandit stated that the municipal corporation’s deep freezers are currently out of order and need repair so that they may be made available in every zone for public use.
