T’puram: Governor Rajendra Arlekar on Thursday said technological progress and scientific innovation must remain rooted in human values, stressing that research achieves its true purpose only when it improves people’s lives and contributes to the welfare of society.Inaugurating the T-RIC X Impact Research Conclave and ANRF Grantee Meet at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Arlekar said technology has evolved rapidly over generations, but its real significance lies in addressing societal needs and delivering tangible benefits to ordinary citizens.He said research, laboratory work and clinical studies become meaningful only when they are translated into practical solutions that improve the quality of life. Appreciating the conclave for bringing together researchers, clinicians, innovators and policymakers on a common platform, Arlekar said such collaborations are vital for converting scientific research into impactful innovations.Governor called for inclusive and purpose-driven innovation, noting that technological advancements should benefit all sections of society, including farmers and other underserved communities. He cautioned that innovation without compassion would amount to “heartless progress” and urged scientists and researchers to ensure that technology is guided by social responsibility and a human touch.
