Kolkata: A young woman, Pratigya Gon, suffered serious injuries after being hit by a govt bus while attempting to cross a busy road near Webel More in Salt Lake Sector V, the state’s IT hub, on Saturday morning. The accident took place around 10.30 am.According to investigators, the woman had just alighted from the same bus and attempted to cross the road by passing in front of the vehicle and had fallen in the driver’s blind spot. At that moment, the driver was negotiating a turn, and the bus struck her, leaving her with severe leg injuries.Traffic personnel on duty immediately rushed to the spot, rescued the injured woman and shifted her to NRS Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Police said the woman sustained serious injuries to her leg and continues to remain under treatment at the hospital.Officers are examining the circumstances that led to the accident. The driver has been arrested and the bus has been seized.
