Gurgaon: A six-year-old student was allegedly beaten up by a teacher over non-payment of a nominal school fee at a private school in Haryana’s Nuh district.On Wednesday, Punhana sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) ordered an inquiry, a day after the incident, which allegedly took place in Shah Chokha village. The matter surfaced after the child returned home visibly shaken, following which his family approached the school to confront the teacher and management. A complainant, which was submitted to the police, alleged that instead of addressing the issue, the teacher misbehaved with them and used abusive language, while the school management also failed to take immediate corrective action. After this, the SDM directed the station house officer, district education officer and block education officer to conduct the probe. Officials said further action will be determined “based on the findings of the investigation”. As of now, no FIR has been registered.According to a complaint submitted by the child’s family, the Class II student had gone to school to appear for his annual examination when he was asked by his teacher to deposit the pending exam fee of Rs 100. When the child said he would bring the money the next day, the teacher allegedly lost his temper and thrashed him with kicks and punches, leaving visible marks and causing significant distress. The family alleged that the child was also threatened with more severe punishment if he failed to bring the money.The brother of the child told TOI on Wednesday, “My six-year-old brother is in the second grade. Yesterday was his first annual exam and because we hadn’t paid the exam fee yet, his class teacher — Ajrudin — beat up and threatened him. He told my brother that if he didn’t bring the money on Tuesday, the beating would be even worse. It has been nearly 28 hours and the red marks from the slaps and punches are still visible on his face. When we confronted the school, they told us, ‘Do whatever you want; if a child studies here, this is how they will be treated’.”
