Meanwhile, Arlekar has approved the recommendation of CM-designate Vijay on the appointment of 9 ministers, the Lok Bhavan said in a release.
The new Cabinet comprises a woman minister S Keerthana.
“C Joseph Vijay, Chief Minister-designate, has recommended a list of nine persons to be appointed as Ministers on May 9. The Governor has approved the recommendation regarding the appointment of the ministers,” the release said.
Arlekar is expected to administer the oath of office to the new Cabinet of Vijay that includes ministers: ‘Bussy’ N Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, K A Sengottaiyan, besides K G Arunraaj, P Venkataramanan, C T R Nirmal Kumar, A Rajmohan, Keerthana and K T Prabhu.
Vijay is expected to prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly through a vote of confidence on or before May 13.
Here is the list of Tamil Nadu cabinet ministers:
N Anand
Fondly known as Bussy Anand, the 61-year-old leader is widely regarded as Vijay’s closest aide. He was elected as a Puducherry MLA from the Bussy constituency in 2006 and has now won from Chennai’s T Nagar constituency. Anand earlier served as the chief of the Vijay Rasigar Mandram in Puducherry, where he organised welfare activities and built a close association with Vijay, eventually becoming one of the founding office-bearers of TVK.
Aadhav Arjuna
Aadhav Arjuna, a basketball player-turned-businessman-turned-politician and the estranged son-in-law of lottery baron Santiago Martin, is the former founder and managing director of Arise Capital. He currently serves as president of the Basketball Federation of India and the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association, and is also the general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Olympic Association. Arjuna had briefly served as deputy general secretary of the VCK before quitting the party and joining TVK.
Seen as a key figure in the party’s election campaign management as TVK general secretary, he has won from the Villivakkam constituency in Chennai.
K G Arunraaj
A former Indian Revenue Service officer, the doctor-turned-civil servant took voluntary retirement before joining TVK as its general secretary for propaganda and policy. He previously served in the Income Tax department across Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Maharashtra. In an interview with The Economic Times, he had said Vijay’s vision drew him to the party. He has now won from the Tiruchengodu constituency.
K A Sengottaiyan
K A Sengottaiyan, one of TVK’s seniormost leaders, brings more than 50 years of political experience that is expected to play a key role as the party navigates government formation. The former AIADMK veteran is seen as one of the architects of TVK’s strong performance in western Tamil Nadu, a region once considered an AIADMK stronghold.
One of the longest-serving MLAs in the state, Sengottaiyan has won from the Gobichettipalayam constituency for the ninth time. His victory under the TVK banner is seen as significant after his expulsion from AIADMK. He joined TVK in November 2025 and currently serves as the chief coordinator of the party’s executive committee.
Keerthana S
Keerthana S is the only woman minister in Vijay’s cabinet as of now. As per the election affidavit, she has total assets of ₹ 22.6 lakh and liabilities valued at ₹12.8 lakh. She declared an annual income of Rs 6.4 lakh. Keerthana S has declared no pending criminal cases.
