Hyderabad: In a major infrastructure push for north Telangana, roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Sunday announced that the Congress govt accorded administrative approval of ₹2,278 crore to establish the Adilabad Joint User Airfield.The minister said the ambitious project would be developed over 2,009 acres, with 1,609 acres allocated to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and 400 acres earmarked for a civil aviation enclave, including an MRO facility, cargo terminal, aircraft hangars and future expansion.Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the project would emerge as a strategic asset for Telangana by strengthening industrial development, cargo connectivity, tourism, logistics and national defence, while creating thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for the youth.

The administrative sanction also includes funding for critical enabling works such as road realignment, shifting of 765 kV high-tension transmission lines, relocation of Mission Bhagiratha pipelines and other utility infrastructure, ensuring smooth execution of the project.The state govt would bear the entire cost of land acquisition and infrastructure relocation, he added.The minister said the district administration has been directed to complete land acquisition and all utility shifting works by Dec 31, 2026, paving the way for early implementation of the airfield.Stating that balanced regional development remains the govt’s priority, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the Adilabad Joint User Airfield would become a game-changing project for north Telangana, significantly enhancing connectivity, investment prospects and economic growth across the region.
