Times News NetworkChatra: A 35-year-old man identified as Bhola Das was killed, while his accomplice, Chhotu Das, 25, who was riding pillion on a bike, was hit head-on by a speeding SUV near Patharia Mor on the Hazaribag-Chatra main road late on Friday. The driver of the four-wheeler, however, escaped, abandoning his vehicle. The impact was so severe that both vehicles were completely damaged.Both hailed from Dhodhi Mandhaniya village under Mayurhand block and were returning home after completing work in Itkhori.Itkhori police sub-inspector Dukhiram Mahto, who reached the spot along with his team, admitted both injured men to the Community Health Centre in Itkhori. They were later referred to Hazaribag for advanced treatment as both suffered serious fractures on their legs. Bhola was later referred to Rims in Ranchi, but he succumbed on the way. Chhotu is under treatment in Hazaribag, but his condition is critical.Itkhori police station in-charge Abhishek Singh said, “The SUV and motorcycle were badly damaged and were being brought to the police station with the help of a crane. Further probe is underway.”
