Madikeri: Forest officials seized an SUV carrying wild meat after the occupants escaped at Devamachi early Thursday.The incident occurred around 4.15am. Officials traced the vehicle to a spot in front of the Akkamala Anganwadi in Devamachi village, which borders the Mavukal reserve forest and lies in the buffer zone of the Anechaukur wildlife area.
Acting on information, forest officials had followed the SUV. The accused abandoned the vehicle and fled, foresters said.Officials recovered 6kg of deer meat and two mobile phones from the SUV. Investigation is on. The operation was led by Nagarahole Tiger Reserve director A Seema.
