Mangaluru: Puttur Town police arrested a suspect who was evading trial for 9 years, after obtaining conditional bail from the court. Due to the violation of bail conditions, another case was registered.The accused, Abbas Ali Altaf,55, a resident of Puttur Kasaba village and currently residing in Padavu in Mangaluru, was evading trial in two cases registered at Puttur Town police station. He was apprehended at Bikarnakatte and presented before the court. The court ordered judicial custody for the accused until Feb 27.Since the accused absconded after obtaining conditional bail and failed to appear for trial, a separate case was registered against him at Puttur Town police station under Section 269 of the BNS.In a separate case, Yogesh Poojari, 35, from Naravi village, Belthangady taluk, was absconding for about 10 years in connection with a warrant under the Venur police station Sections 448, 354(A)(2), and 506 IPC, and Sections 11 and 12 of the Pocso Act. He was apprehended in Naganur village, Gokak taluk, Belagavi district. He was presented before a court on Saturday, and the court ordered judicial custody for him.
